A buzz in the distance and an acrid smell of manure. In a corner of the countryside around my house, covered by a thick row of cypress trees, two shepherds were working alone. I was immediately struck by that reality that seemed so far from modern life but at the same time so authentic and peacefull.

I approached with a shy good morning and asked if I could take some pictures, to tell in my own way that beautiful corner of authenticity. Behind a gruff look and hands painted with fatigue was hidden a serene person, free and in love with his animals. The sheep, intimidated by my presence, proceed with surprising composure towards their Shepherd who is preparing to extract the milk with decision and delicacy.
